The Altea Golf club (former Don Cayo Golf Club) was founded in 1974 by Don Luis Campomanes Asumendi. It is situated in the foothills of the Sierra Bernia mountain range and has beautiful views of the pretty Mediterranean fishing village of Altea. Opened in 1974, this fabulous little course was designed by the architects Pedro Barber and Gregorio Sands and is a vigorous par 72 .

The course was remodeled in 2006. Various tee offs were created which allow the golfer to feel he´s actually playing an 18 hole course. Set at the foot of the Bernia Mountain, the course does have various slopes. This together with its 4 new bunkers and the beautiful conserved pine forest make the course both interesting and challenging.
