Oporto Golf Club

Being the first Golf Club on the Iberian Peninsula and one of the first in continental Europe, this club was founded in 1890 by the English living in Oporto. This course is an absolute must.

The first 9 holes were started in 1890 but the club was upgraded to an 18 hole course in 1934 with many additions and improvements since.

Long narrow fantastically kept fairways make up most of the course together with some slight dog legs and then a couple of more difficult ones. The real challenge however can be found half way through your game.

Both the 9th and 10th holes end with greens that are completely surrounded by water hazards and sand bunkers. You´ll need to pull all your tricks out of the bag here.

The club is just minutes from the Atlantic coast and only a 25 minute drive from the beautiful old port city of Oporto and it´s International airport making access no problem whatsoever.

When you´ve completed your game on this fantastic Links Championship Course, a refreshing drink in the old colonial style clubhouse cannot be missed. The incredible history of the club can be seen everywhere here and sitting back sipping a Port Wine will transport you back to those early years. The club was after all, started by the English in the Port Wine business in the late 19th century, so can you imagine the elegance here?
