The Monte Rei delivers a unique golfing experience as a result of the challenging design and impressive location in the foothills of the eastern Algarve. The course features some excellent bunkering coupled with the influencing factor of water on eleven of the eighteen holes. This challenging course is currently rated No.1 in Portugal and 12th in Europe by top100golfcourses.co.uk.
This is the first “signature” course design by Jack Nicklaus in Portugal, and has been sympathetically designed to blend with the surrounding landscape as well as making the best use of the natural geography.
There is not a weak hole on this course; however the 13th hole is definitely worth mentioning with bunkers at the drive landing point and a lakeside green that undulates to confuse you and your ball.
A welcome haven after a day’s golf is the sumptuous and stylish Clubhouse, which offers state-of-the-art amenities and excellent service. The bars and restaurants have extensive menus ranging from simple snacks to a fine dining experience from an award winning chief.
