A part of history
The Porto Bay Serra Golf is the result of the complete refurbishment of a 1920’s Madeira Island “Quinta”, belonging to the same family for over four generations now. In the 1940’s the building became the teahouse “Casa de Chá do Santo da Serra” and later on the Golf Club House.

Santo da Serra Golf

The Santo da Serra Golf Course was built in 1937 and was redesigned in 1991 by the famous golf architect Robert Trent Jones. He created a breathtaking course with 27 holes, integrated in a splendid place created by nature.

The Clube de Golf do Santo da Serra is ranked in the Top 100 Courses in Europe prestigious tournaments, including the Madeira Islands Open, which has been part of the PGA European Tour Circuit since 1993. The year round temperate climate makes Santo da Serra an exceptional all year round venue. It provides a spectacular golfing experience with its challenging terrain, ample fairways, beautiful lakes, strategic bunkers and four different tee positions.
