Turkish Riviera
The Turkish Riviera (also known popularly as the Turquoise Coast) is a term used to define an area of southwest Turkey encompassing Antalya, Mugla and to a lesser extent the provinces of Aydin and southern Izmir. The combination of a favourable climate, warm sea, more than a thousand kilometres of shoreline along the Aegean and Mediterranean waters, and abundant natural and archaeological points of interest makes this stretch of Turkey’s coastline a popular destination.
The Turkish Riviera as a holiday destination
Turkish Riviera holidays are based in the south of Turkey along the Mediterranean Sea. The Turkish Riviera is home to many spectacular ancient sites such as the city ruins of Phaselis, Myra, Simena, Aspendos and Perge. You will find golf, sailing, water sports, river rafting, horse riding and scuba diving popular on a Turkish Riviera holiday. Then there's the ability to ski in the Taurus Mountains, play golf and swim in the sea all in the same day (if you wish).

St. Nicholas, later known as Santa Claus, was born in Demre (ancient Myra), a small town close to present-day Antalya. Herodotus, accepted as the father of History, was born in Bodrum (ancient Halicarnassus) in 484 BC. The volcanic mountains to the west of Antalya, near Dalyan, are believed to have been the inspiration for the mythical Chimera - the fire breathing monster that Bellerophon slew.
