Marrakech The 'Pink City' of Marrakech sits just north of the Atlas Mountains which provide a magnificent backdrop to this exotic city. Explore the medina, the palace walls, museums and gardens as well as wandering through the busy souks. A night time visit to the colourful Djemaa el Fna is not to be missed.

Marrakech as a holiday destination
Inland are the impressive Atlas Mountains, home to the Berber people, and perfect for hiking, trekking and biking holidays. The south of Morocco is a vast region of deserts, mountains and oases, where nomads still travel around in a centuries old tradition. Marrakech stands at the foothills of the Atlas Mountains and is a perfect centre from which to explore the Atlas, Desert and Coastal areas.

Marrakech climate
The climate of Marrakech is fairly appealing throughout the year, with plenty of sunshine to soak up and enjoy. However, the weather experienced within Marrakech can be rather changeable at times and although there is usually plenty of sun during the winter months, the likelihood of rain at this time of the year increases.

Marrakech’s coastline
Situated 100 miles in land, Marrakech holds a highly important strategic position between the Mediterranean and Rif in the north, the deserts to the south, the Atlas Mountains to the east and the Atlantic coast to the west.

Marrakech culture
Morocco was colonised by the French in the early 20th century, and after WWII, a vast array of pleasure-seekers, ranging from the glamorous to the distinctly insalubrious, left their mark on Marrakech. Winston Churchill, Yves Saint Laurent and the Rolling Stones rubbed shoulders with American beat writers, hippies and a new breed of curious visitors anxious to see what all the fuss was about.

Marrakech gastronomy
If you want to eat well in Marrakech, do what the locals do and eat at the food stalls in the square. They have been in existence long before Marrakech became a tourist destination. All of the stalls can be regarded as perfectly safe to eat at. They are strictly licensed and controlled by the government, especially now as it is a popular destination for tourists. Each night in the Djemaa El-Fna rows of street stalls are set up under giant white tents. Everyone has tajine, couscous, brochette and some variety of soups as well as the specials.

Golf in Marrakech
Leave the cold and damp behind in the winter for a good dose of Moroccan sunshine. Here you can enjoy quiet, lush surroundings resplendent with palms and bougainvillea. Make the most of the longer hours of daylight, appreciate the personal attention of the caring staff and indulge in the pampering of the hammam and have the golf course pretty much to yourself. A true golfing oasis.

La Palmeraie Golf Club

La Palmeraie Golf Club spreads over 77 hectares. It has the prestigious snow-capped crests of the Atlas Mountains as a background and overlooks white medinas. There is a striking contrast between the desert on one side and its seven lakes & thousands of palm trees on the other.

A 27-hole, 6214 metre championship course, more than capable of playing host to major professional tournaments. You can vary the length of the course and adapt it to suit your own capabilities with the help of various tees at each hole.

The signature hole of the front nine is undoubtedly the ultimate hole of the half, where a poorly played tee shot could finish in water on either side of the fairway. The lake on the right lingers along the entire length of the hole and is a constant threat until your ball finds the sanctuary of the putting surface. You will find the club house at the heart of the golf course, cleverly designed as a little palace with a restaurant, terrace and suites facing the Atlas Mountains.
