East Coast and Dublin East coast & Dublin: Feast your senses on bewitching scenery, fantastic city life, sensational sporting events and compelling historical sights. This region is famed for its rich natural charms, ancient sites of Newgrange and Clonmacnoise, top golfing and world-renowned horseracing.

The East coast & Dublin as a holiday destination
Dublin is usually the first port of call for visitors and this energetic, youthful city pulsates with a compelling mix of history, culture, hip bars and pubs. But what really defines the East is the unspoiled countryside. With glistening lakes, tranquil rivers, authentic rural life, scenic pastureland, rolling hills and forest parks.

The East coast & Dublin’s climate
Ireland has a mild, temperate climate. Rain showers can occur at any time of the year. But, the rain that washes over Ireland is what makes the grass so green and creates a sense of magic over the misty countryside.

The Eastern Irish coastline
The eastern coastline is not short on striking attractions; from mountains to beaches, there's a wonderfully rich variety of landscapes. The coastline of Dublin is full of craggy trails, wildflowers, and sea views.

Culture on the East coast & Dublin
The Irish are famed for their sense of humour, character and warmth and nowhere is this more evident than in the sunny counties of the East Coast. There are lots of family friendly amenities, from nature’s own golden stretches of coastline and the blissful landscapes.

The East coast & Dublin gastronomy
Luscious Dublin Bay prawns, succulent oysters, melt in the mouth mussels, mouth-watering mackerel, just some of the delicious seafood you’ll find on menus around Ireland. A trip to Ireland wouldn’t be complete without sampling a few oysters and sinking a pint of the black stuff. Dublin is after all the home of Guinness.

Golf on the East coast & Dublin
With over 300 golf courses, is it any wonder that Ireland is green? World renowned courses dot the map but it is also the informal and friendly manner in which the game is played, that makes Irish golf a special experience.

Carton House - The Montgomerie course

The layout weaves through a maze of cavernous bunkers that surround the large, undulating greens and narrow fairways. Colin Montgomerie, the course designer, paid homage to some of the greatest links courses in the world.

When designing the golf course, he kept in mind that what many of these great courses had in common was skillful and abundant bunkering.

The Montgomerie Course is characterized by its plentiful pot bunkers, which were carefully placed to provide the maximum level of challenge especially when paired with blustery, prevailing winds.
